Coat Hanger Sculptures
David Mach is a sculptor and installation artist who puts wire hangers to use in his pieces of art. Mach first creates a plastic base of the figure he then wraps in coathangers. Hundreds of basic hangers are welded together and then the plastic base is removed, leaving the hanger sculpture ready for silver nickel plating. It’s a condo boom for coral blooms as retired New York subway cars are being hurled into the ocean deep. The initiative, headed by the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, has deposited hundreds of the vacant vessels in an effort to jump start a new reef 16 miles off the state’s coast. Japanese brand WTAPS' involvement with the Vans Syndicate line has produced some of the most popular models to ever come out of the fabled skate brand arsenal of footwear. Back for another installment for fall 2008, the WTAPS/Vans relationship extends to new heights as three new models (two which are pictured) have been created. The styles seen here include the Greaserz and Bash. Each model draws on respective influences of lineage and 80s skating to create a final design. The Bash will arrive in June, while the Greaserz will hit stores in July. The release will be completed by the Rudeez (not pictured) in August.

The "Chris Cote For UNIV" Surfboard Project

Vans will be releasing a legends pack honoring Bay Area native and Powell Peralta pro Steve Caballero. The iREAL mobility device concept is one of the new designs for Toyota from Tokyo Design Research. It has three wheels, one of them that can extend either up or down going with the speed, perimeter monitor sensors which warn the driver to prevent collisions or objects from interfering, with a vibration noise alert. But now a Canadian artist has brought the game into the 21st Century, by painting an enormous Wally that can be seen by Google Earth satellites.
The 55ft figure was installed on an undisclosed rooftop in Vancouver last month, sparking a flurry of interest among internet users keen to be the first to spot this Web 2.0 Wally.
But competition is tough. Not only do they have to locate his roof perch, they also have to wait for Google's imaging equipment to pick him up, which could happen at any time. The company does not reveal exactly when it updates its images.
